No slowing down Fontana Pharmacy’s growth

It’s been a busy few months for Fontana Pharmacy, but CEO Anne Chang says there are still a few big moves the company plans on making.

The 57-year-old pharmacy and retail company had a record-breaking third quarter, bringing in $2.7 billion in revenue.

Speaking on Taking Stock with Kalilah Reynolds, Chang said it’s just the beginning. Fontana has big plans for the future, especially in Portmore, where it’s growing fast.

The company recently purchased Monarch Pharmacy and its four locations; three in Kingston and one in Portmore.

“We shut them down and we have pretty specific plans for the four of them,” Chang said.

She shared that the Portmore Monarch location, which is only a stone’s throw away from it’s main location, will be getting a fun new twist.

She described it as a “Fontana Last Chance,” a mix of pharmacy and outlet store, that will offer big discounts.

“You’re going to be able to go to that Portmore Monarch location and at any time see deals on like 50%, 75% off goods,” said Chang.

The company is also branching out into the luxury beauty world. They will be launching Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin in two stores, next week. As well as a new kind of space called Aura by Fontana.

Chang said that “Aura” is all about offering a high-end shopping experience. One location will be inside their Waterloo store, and the other will be a new standalone store in Montego Bay. The CEO explained that luxury brands like Fenty have strict requirements, so they created Aura to meet those needs.

“When you come to our launch… you will not only see Fenty,” said Chang. “You’re going to see walls of brand-new perfume scents and some high-end ones like Hermès, Carolina Herrera, Armani, Prada.”

She emphasised that she wanted the luxury experience to be synonymous with Jamaica shopping.
