Caribbean business owners will have to tap into their creative sides to fully leverage the exposure social media platform TikTok can give their companies.

In recent years TikTok has emerged as one of the most popular social media platforms, surpassing one billion active monthly users in 2021. 

Speaking on MoneyMovesJa with Kalilah Reynolds, Online Business Strategist Keron Rose said that TikTok’s popularity presents a unique opportunity to business owners to have their business grow. 

“TikTok’s organic growth is so ridiculous that anybody who is doing anything remotely trendy can build a following,” he said.

Rose also noted that Google recently began indexing TikTok video as part of its search results. This means that TikTok videos will now appear in Google search results based on the keywords that were entered into the search.

This he said gives businesses even more opportunities to be noticed as their online presence grows.

According to Rose, some entrepreneurs are hesitant to become fully invested in the platform because it requires a lot of creativity and a keen understanding of internet trends.

“What scares businesses, is that this is a platform where you cannot do static images. This is a platform where you now have to do video,” he said.

“This is a platform where you have to figure out how to be creative and solve problems for your audience but do it in an entertaining and educating way,” he added.

He noted, however, that once business owners get the hang of it then those TikTok videos can be repurposed to other social media platforms to further drive engagement and therefore business to their companies.
