CashPot Goes To Ghana!

Let the games begin… in Ghana!  Supreme Ventures is taking Cashpot and Pick 4 to Africa-o!

Supreme Ventures or SVL is Jamaica’s largest player in the betting, gaming and lotteries industry.  For a long time, they had a monopoly on the industry. I mean as soon as we have a dream or something happens, we run go buy Cashpot because we’re convinced the number will play.

But recently we’ve seen some newcomers like Izzizi, enter the market.

And gambling is big business in Jamaica. For just the June quarter last year, the Government made $3 billion in taxes from the gambling industry. $3 billion in three months, that’s amazing. And that’s just the government’s take.

For that same quarter, the industry as a whole made $60 billion and SVL alone contributed over $25 billion of that.

So, even though SVL is clearly the dominant player in Jamaica, they’ve been trying to expand their business to make sure that they stay ahead.

Enter this deal in Ghana.

Ghana’s National Lottery Authority has given a company called Game Park Limited permission to operate a lottery.

Game Park will be using SVL’s platform to bring CashPot and Pick 4 to Ghana. SVL will be the technical service provider showing Game Park the ropes.

Now this is a massive deal for SVL because Ghana has around 33 million people (as of 2021) compared to Jamaica’s 3 million. SVL also operates in other Caribbean countries but even so, Ghana is a much bigger market and this deal could be really good for the company’s numbers.

Now speaking of SVL’s numbers, they had an amazing year in 2022! The company brought in $50.8 billion in revenues. That’s the most money they’ve ever made! And $3 billion of that was profit.

How did they make so much money?  Well, couple of things.

The World Cup was last year, so that boosted the sports betting side of the business. Plus SVL ramped up their marketing and games. Remember everyone was scratching “Scratchaz” last year and Spice made an appearance in a couple of commercials for them. And Konshens had the commercial – me hand miggle a scratch me!

And then too, generally, when times are hard, like now when things just expensive, people tend to gamble a lot because they want to win the jackpot and get rich and stop the struggle.

So all of that led to a record year for SVL and now with this new deal in Ghana, 2023 is shaping up to be another historic one for them.
