Lewis Hamilton makes billions for Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton just made billions of dollars for Ferrari… and he doesn’t even work there yet!

The 2024 F1 season hasn’t even started yet and people are already looking forward to 2025. That’s because seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton announced that he’ll be leaving his team at Mercedes after 12 years to join Ferrari in 2025.

And I know you’re probably thinking, why is Kalilah talking about F1, Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari? Well, it’s because a LOT of money is involved. And once someone says money, poof!  I appear.

If you’re not familiar, Lewis Hamilton is an exceptionally talented Formula One race car driver. Six of his seven World Championship titles have been with Mercedes. Together, Hamilton and Mercedes have been the most successful driver/team pairing in the history of F1. So basically, they’re rice and peas and fried chicken with curry gravy… they just go well together.

So it was a huge shock when Hamilton announced that he’d be leaving Mercedes at the end of the 2024 season to drive for Ferrari. Especially since there’s been talk of Hamilton retiring.

In the F1 world, Ferrari is the most successful driving team, having more championship wins than any other team.

So when one of the most successful drivers in the world joins one of the most iconic teams in the world, big things happen.

Ferrari’s stock surged over 10% after news of the transfer, adding roughlyUS$7 billion to Ferrari’s market value in one day!

That’s crazy when you consider that Hamilton hasn’t even gotten in the car yet!

Some reports have suggested that Hamilton’s deal with Ferrari could be worth well over US$400 million, between his annual salary, endorsement deals and investment in Hamilton’s charities and initiatives.

So Ferrari is throwing a lot of money behind this collaboration, and it’s already paid off multiple times over.

Now Hamilton’s transfer isn’t the only factor that could have contributed to the stock’s rally.

News of the transfer coincided with Ferrari’s results, which showed higher revenues thanks to selling higher-priced cars and goods in the US and China.

Also, Ferrari has already been scoring bigger sponsorship deals with brands like Celsius energy drink.

The 2024 F1 season hasn’t even started yet, so imagine what could happen in 2025 when Hamilton drives off a Ferrari.

And imagine if the pairing goes on to win a championship! Ferrari’s value would explode.

And that’s the bottom line.
